Successful evaluations for blind and low-vision students depend on a collaboration between the TVI and the psychologist. This session will introduce TVIs to the goals and methods of psycho-educational assessments. We will also discuss how TVIs’ unique expertise contributes to an accurate, accessible, and fair evaluation of blind and low vision students.

In this presentation, Dr. Engle discusses essential factors the evaluator must consider, including: in what ways a visual impairment impacts development, how adaptations affect construct validity, and what additional domains should be evaluated.

This webinar discusses the unique challenges of evaluating an individual with a visual impairment. It will review issues related to test adaptation, test interpretation, and construct validity. Participants will learn how to make an ethical, informed decision about when to proceed with an evaluation, when and where to seek consultation, and when to refer elsewhere.
